Dear Colleagues and Friends,

We are excited to tell you about AAGT’s 10th International Gestalt Therapy Conference,Continuity & Change: Gestalt Therapy Now that will be held in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA, June 3-6, 2010.  Many of us are already involved in the early stages of planning for the conference.

At this time, we invite you to submit a proposal for a presentation to be offered at the conference.  We encourage innovative and creative presentations that relate to the theme of the conference and are grounded in gestalt theory.  Presentations may be theoretical, clinical, and/or experiential in the form of workshops, demonstrations, panels, videos and/or discussions.  They will be two hours in length.

Presentations will be selected by the Presentations’ Committee following a blind peer review.  Your proposal will be considered in compliment with other proposed presentations and plenaries. Our intention is to be inclusive and expansive, offering presentations from newcomers and veteran presenters as well as from a broad cross-section of AAGT members.

Once accepted, registration for the conference will be required of all presenters.

Please fill out the Cover Letter and Proposal Information on the appropriate forms (link).  Since we do blind peer review, please do not put any identifying information beyond the cover letter.  Send both to:  peer-review@philadelphia2010.aagt2.org

DEADLINE FOR SUMBITTING PROPOSALS
August 15, 2009

The Presentations’ Committee will notify you by December, 2009 about your proposal. We look forward to hearing from you!

CONFERENCE PRESENTATION PROPOSAL COVER LETTER

The theme of this conference, Continuity & Change: Gestalt Therapy Now, is an attempt to bring the Gestalt community, and the world of psychotherapy in general, up-to-date on what aspects of our theory and practice remain stable or static and what is shifting or changing. In what ways is “continuity” a valued aspect of the Gestalt approach? What do we cling to? In addressing the concept of “change,” we are interested in proposals that speak to Gestalt therapy’s theories, philosophies and methods of change. For example, in what ways are we “agents of change,” as contrasted with therapeutic approaches that advocate the therapist being a “change agent?”

We encourage all types of program presentations – experiential workshops, demonstrations, standard lectures with discussion, pedagogical papers, innovative and creative presentations, student papers, and workshops on various dimensions of gestalt therapy applications. Proposals are welcome on mind-body connections, clinical practice, teaching and training, neuroscience, transpersonal dynamics, spiritual and religious experience, social justice and organizational change. Presentations may be theoretical, clinical, or experiential, introductory or advanced. They may be demonstrations, panels, video presentations, or discussions. Presentations will be selected by the conference planning committee following blind peer review.

We are attempting to handle all conference presentation proposals via Internet. You can copy and paste these two forms from the web site into your word processing program (e.g. Word, Notepad, WordPad), or you can download them in MS Word format (see below in this paragraph). You can also request an email version of the forms by sending your request to proposalcoverandform@philadelphia2010.aagt2.org. Then, complete both forms. When finished, either copy and paste them into an email message to the Peer Review Committee, or, if you already have the email version of the form, just fill in the address of the Peer Review Committee and identify your post in the subject line as being a "conference presentation proposal." Download MS Word Format:ProposalCover&Form

Please complete this Cover Letter, which has personally identifying information about you, the presenter (or presenters).  Then, please complete the following pages which have the information specific to your presentation proposal.  As we do a blind peer review of all proposals, we ask that you do not put any personally identifying information on the actual Proposal Form

CONFERENCE PRESENTATION PROPOSAL FORM

ID #_____ (please leave blank)

REMINDER: Please avoid putting any personally identifying information on this form.

Because many people attend our conferences for continuing education credit to maintain their professional licenses, AAGT has maintained continuing education provider status with various professional boards and societies since our first conference. Because of these ongoing sponsor-approval agreements it is necessary to include specific information in your workshop proposal to support the process of blind peer review and the granting of CE credit for our programs.

Successful continuing education requires: (1) Program planning that includes a clear statement of educational goals and objectives; (2) Appropriate instructional methods to achieve those objectives; and (3) Presenters with demonstrated expertise in the program content. It is essential that you complete all of the following information to have your proposal receive full and equal consideration in our blind-peer review proposal selection process.

Please provide us with the following information about your proposed presentation. When completed, please send this entire document (Presentation Proposal Cover Letter and Presentation Proposal Form) prior to August 15, 2009 to our Peer Review Committee:
